With deep respect and heartfelt remembrance, we honor the life of George Connett, who passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2026, at the Marshfield Clinic after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on January 14th, 1952, in Pekin–Peoria, Illinois, to George and Helen (Widby) Connett, George grew up with a profound love for the outdoors and the natural world. His youth was shaped by camping, hunting, and fishing—experiences that nurtured a lifelong appreciation for nature. He also found freedom on the open road, covering countless miles on his Harley Davidson and embracing the sense of adventure it brought.

George carried his love of the outdoors throughout his life. He cultivated large vegetable gardens and beautiful flower gardens, tending them with care and pride. He was an avid cook who canned the harvest from his gardens, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His generosity was a defining part of whom he was—quiet, steady, and offered without hesitation.

George also had a great love of animals. He raised, trained, and loved his chocolate labs, and throughout his life cared for many pets, including ponies, cats, dogs, and even his pet pig. Later in life, he worked as a farm hand and loved his cows, tending to them with the same patience and devotion he showed in all parts of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister‑in‑law, Nancy; his beloved long‑time partner, Kathy Theil (August 3rd, 2017); and many dear friends and companions, including Tom, Libbie, and Bo.

Left to celebrate his life are his brother, Kenny; two special cousins, Monica and Joanne; his loved partner, Sheila Dailey; and his cherished fur babies, Chester and Storm.

George was generous to a fault. In his honor, donations may be made to his favorite charities, St. Jude’s and Shriners Hospital, organizations he supported with heartfelt conviction.

We will hold George in our hearts until we can hold him in heaven.
