Obituary

Audrey Jean (Brogan) Massie, 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Audrey was born on May 29, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Raymond and Ruth Brogan.

Audrey graduated in 1963 from Rice Lake High School. She then took her first job at Northwestern National Bank in downtown Minneapolis. Next, after moving back to Rice Lake, she worked at Fabritech until she was married to Jerry Massie, October 3, 1964. Her next job was probably the most important of her life, and that was raising her four beloved children and being a loving wife to her husband Jerry on the family farm. Audrey also worked at Chetek State Bank and State Farm during this time. When the kids grew up and started lives of their own, Audrey took her last job as Director of the Chetek Senior Center from 1995-2005. She loved her time talking with and serving the seniors.

Audrey was a fabulous cook and loved to shop and wear the latest fashions. She enjoyed her flower gardens and spending time on her swing in the big Oak tree in the yard. Audrey attended Advent Christian Church for over 55 years. She enjoyed being a member of Christian Women’s where she spent time serving on their Board.

Surviving family members include her husband of 61 years, Jerry Massie; children Kelly (Annette) of Hudson, WI, Chad (Pam) of Chetek, WI, Shane (Teri) of Hillsdale, WI, Shannon (Lee) of Maple Valley, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cheyanne, Peyton, Sawyer, Connor, Parker, Jackson, Noah, Tristan, Isabel, Ashtyn, Regan and Rowan; siblings Mike (Fela) Brogan, Pat (John) Johnson, Richard (Sharon) Brogan. Preceded in death by her father, Ray Arthur Brogan, mother, Ruth Vera Brogan; sisters Dorothy Pearson and Betty Malec; brothers John Brogan, Bob Olson and Tommy Brogan.

A funeral service will be held at the Advent Christian Church, Chetek, on Thursday, August 20th, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., service to follow at 1:00 p.m. The burial will take place at 4:00pm at the Sioux Creek Cemetery in Dallas, WI.
