Dennis, Robin & Alan,

You were blessed with a true gift from God, your Mother, Ruth. She lived her life to the fullest savoring God's word and sharing with everyone she met. She had a memory like no other and was so warm & kind. I'm sure all of those who met her will never forget her smile or hug. My thoughts and prayers are with you; savor and share her memories with those who loved her so much. God Bless all of you!

Dennis, Robin, Alan and family: Oh, the wonderful Van Norman gatherings either in Durand or on the farm.  Ruth's magic root cellar. Kids chasing each other. Finally moving to the Big Table with the adults. Aunt Ruth and Grandma Lena fussing at Dad (Bill) for cutting too much of the potato away while peeling. Ruth's great flatbread spread with lots of butter! Her wry humor was sneak up, grab you and "gotcha" with that twinkle in her eye.  I love that Ruth wore her favorite blue cardigan. She would have liked that. Lovely song, Somewhere over the Rainbow. Be well each of you. May you find comfort in knowing Ruth lived a life full of kindness and love.  Vikki Bay

Dear Dennis, Robin and Alan,
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you for the loss of your Mother.  I remember her well from the days when we all attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Sand Creek. Your Mother was one of the nicest, kindest and most pleasant women I have ever known.  She always seemed to have a smile on her face!  It was a blessing to know her.  I am praying that God will comfort you all and give you strength during this difficult time.

When I think of Ruth I remember the sweetest lady I know.  She worked at the insurance agency for years with our mom, Laura, and this is the final link to mom too.  She was such a pure heart and never forgot a birthday for years, and it has been years.  Quiet and sweet she loved her God and am sure she is happily wrapped in his arms.  Thank you for sharing her life with us and all the memories.  Louann and Sally Craven

Dear Denny, Robin and Alan,
We are sorry for the loss of you Mother.  Ruth always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say.
I remember your farm next to our cousins, the Anderson's.  We have fun memories of our childhood in Sand Creek.
For years, your Mom would call both Bob and I on our birthdays. A few years ago, we cancelled our land line and she no longer felt comfortable calling our cells.  She would mention to me that she knew we had birthdays and was sorry that she did not call.
We are sorry that we cannot be there to extend our condolences in person.
God's Promise of eternal life is such a comfort at this time.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Bob & Eunice Dewey

Oh the memories. From the fishing on the lake to the houses we built out of cardboard boxes to the one and only lady who could win your heart over with her fabulous "flat bread". I remember her trying to teach me how to make flat bread and mine never turned out like hers. Every family get together was never complete without Aunt Ruth's flat bread. We were so fortunate to have a wonderful visit with her at our family get together this last summer up in Eau Claire. You will be missed by many Aunt Ruth. You've touched so many lives throughout the years. Thank you for all the memories. I will cherish them forever. RIP sweet lady.

I, too have many fabulous memories of Van Norman family gatherings at the farm. Spying on the adults through the floor grate was the best. Also, Alan and all of his houses made from Ed's Refrigerator boxes. I will miss the wonderful lady who reminded me more and more of her mother as the years went by. I don't think she missed sending me a birthday card one year. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heart and prayers are with you all during this time. I will really miss Aunt Ruth and being able to write all those letters back and forth. I have been remembering all the times we visited ti farm and in Chetek too. So many memories of our dad helping Dennis with projects for his animals and one Christmas when you kids were at our house for Christmas and went riding to see the lights when Robin saw an airplane flying over and was sure it was Santa. Sure enough he had been to the house. Can not help the beautiful memories I have of her. May God be with all of you as you bid her goodbye but I see her running around Heaven and reuniting with loved ones who have gone ahead. Love you all.
