We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. No amount of time will ever prepare you for the loss of your only child. There are not enough words that could summarize his contribution to what we call "life", or the "gift" we named Nick. He was very grateful for Rolf, who was his father figure, especially during his difficult fight. He supported us so that I could take Nick to all his medical appointments for the past 3.5 years. He drove us to Rochester in terrible weather, and usually on a moments notice, to get Nick the medical attention he needed. We were all blessed to share time with him and he will be missed. People who knew him, know his life story. A beautiful story that ended far too soon. Rest in peace Nick. Love, Love.

I spent some great moments with Nick in the last few years. Last October we had a nuce visit. He shared that he was so grateful to have his mom. She had devoted her life for the sake of his. He also shared that Rolf always helped him and his mom with his care. That he was a good man. Yes, we can learn a lot from Nick and what he went through. Love is unconditional. You care for people in good times and bad. You should be grateful and let people know that you are. And you should tell people you love them often.

Janet, I was sad to hear of Nick's passing. He put up a brave front for us.
We learned so much from him, he was a wealth of knowledge - trivia and comics.
Always polite and grateful.
I hope our team helped keep him comfortable these past years.

I had the privilege of being Nick's cousin. We were only about 6 months apart in age, and we enjoyed being the youngest cousins on the Fenner side. Back in 2005 we had a joint graduation party in Eau Claire. I remember thinking what a smart and kind young man he was. He was an all-around "good guy." I was further impressed with Nick when I received some martini glasses as a gift from my wedding registry. Most guys his age wouldn't even think about a wedding gift, much less shop a registry! It just goes to show what a thoughtful guy he was. Since Nick and I were the same age I often thought about what he must be going through at this stage in his life. He had incredible strength, spirit, and courage. I admired him for this. He was a truly special guy.

It was an honor to take care of Nick over these last years of his life. He had an amazing strength of spirit and positive attitude. I am glad for the opportunity to chat with him on so many occasions and it was a real pleasure to get to know him. I am still working on watching a list he made for me of some of his all time favorite movies! I so enjoyed seeing the photos you posted here. Wishing you peace and healing in this time of sadness. He will be missed!

Janet and family, my heart goes out to you. Nick was an amazing young man! I enjoyed caring for him and getting to know him over the last 3 1/2 years. My heart feels sorrow and joy at the same time: sorrow for his passing and that I will not see him again, and joy that he is free of the disease that robbed him of a complete and full life. I am grateful for the pictures you have posted here! To see Nick when he was healthy, happy, and full of life. Thank you for sharing these. Blessings to you and your family. I will be holding you in my thoughts and prayers.
