Leon Leonard Romanowski

Leon Leonard Romanowski, 98, of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Atrium Post Acute Care Center in Chetek with his loving family at his side.  Leon was born on April 9, 1919 in Strickland, Wisconsin the son of Patricia and Anton Romanowski. 

Leon married Myrtle Ellefson on June 19, 1941 in Strickland, Wisconsin.  After their marriage they owned and operated a dairy farm 2 miles south of Chetek for many years and subsequently, it is now the Sioux Creek Golf Course.  Leon loved accordion music, Polish music and loved to go dancing with his wife.  He loved to fish and hunt and to spend time with his family.  He loved farming and was very good at it.  He will be dearly missed.

Leon leaves to celebrate his memory: children, Marion Dye of Denver, NC; Chuck (Jean) Romanowski, Chetek, WI; Lillian Solchenberger, La Crosse, WI; Susan (Lee) Hatfield, Denver, NC; Carolyn (Jeff) Zwadlo, Lakeland, FL; Cathy (Ken) Fossum, Rice Lake, WI and Anita (Roger) Sykes, Rice Lake, WI, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Anton, his wife, Myrtle, son, Harold, grandson, Jason Ward and several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church.  Leon will be laid to rest alongside his wife at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Chetek.  Following the burial the family invites their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship at the church.
