Patricia Lohse Obituary

Patricia “Pat or Patsy” Jane Lohse, Age 85, of Cameron, Wisconsin and formerly Wonder Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in Chetek, WI. She was born on July 31, 1933, in Los Angeles to her father, Clayton Thomas Smith and mother Elicia Irene (Holland) Smith.

Patricia grew up in Santa Barbara, CA, loved music and playing the violin in the school orchestra. She loved her little sister Sandy, rode her bike everywhere with Sandy in the basket and enjoyed the California weather. She graduated from high school and worked for the California Department of Parks and Recreation. She met her husband, Fred, at a USO dance near Travis AFB. They married on December 19, 1953 in Reno and a traditional family wedding at the San Leandro Catholic Church in California on January 30, 1954.  Patricia and Fred relocated to Illinois and raised their 7 beautiful and loving children. She later worked as a Secretary at the McHenry County High School for many dutiful years. She retired in 1995 and Fred and Pat moved to Cameron, WI which is close to their favorite family vacation area of Chetek. Pat was extremely intelligent, laughed readily, a great listener, full of encouragement, had an amazing smile and unforgettable sparkling blue eyes and left quite a legacy.

Patricia is survived by her husband Fred, sister Sandy Hovey, sister-in-law Carol Stromberg, brothers-in-law James and Ronald Lohse, children Christine Byard, Robert (Robin), David (Jo Ann), James (Linda), John, William (Susan), Therese Gough, 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her mother Elicia Zapata, stepfather Frank Zapata, father Clayton Smith, mother-in-law Marie Lohse, father-in-law Frederick Lohse, son Freddy Lohse, grandson Michael Lohse, granddaughter Heather Lohse, great grandson Zachary Lohse.
