John Sidney Nesseth

John Sidney Nesseth, 57, of Chetek, passed away on May 22, 2020 at his residence.  John was born in La Crosse, WI on December 17, 1962 to Mary Louise Liskovec-Nesseth-Ekstrom and Sidney Nesseth.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He grew up in La Crosse and attended schools in the La Crosse and West Salem areas.  He graduated from Onalaska High School.

John moved to the Chetek area in 1983.  He met and married Cheryl Talley in 2002 and later divorced.  He loved to socialize and enjoyed all the people he worked with.  He worked at the Pokegama Inn, Pete’s Landing and last the grocery store in Chetek where he worked for 20 years.  John attended St. Boniface Catholic Church where he would usher at mass.

John is survived by his mother, Mary Ekstrom and his stepfather, Ronald Ekstrom of Chetek, four brothers and sisters, Thomas (Patti) Nesseth, Sparta, WI; Jeanne Betsinger, Hokah, MN; Mary Jo (Paul) Bruha, La Crosse, WI; Sharon (Hans) Hanson of Holmen, WI; nine nieces and nephews, Melissa Stanton, Joey Nesseth, Cory Nesseth, Joanna Vincent, Ian Betsinger, Lisette Betsinger, Grace Bruha, Kasey Bruha, Ryan Rethwisch and his cat Buddy.  John was preceded in death by his father, Sidney and his nephew Andrew Hanson. 

John was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to everyone.

A private family mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek.  John will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse, WI.
