John Anton Matisko

John Anton Matisko, 83, of New Auburn, WI passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Meadowbrook  of Chetek.  John was born on September 8, 1936 in Chicago, IL the son of John and Mary (Zmarzek) Matisko.

John was married to Nancy for almost 60 years.  He was an Air Force Veteran and was stationed in London, England during his enlistment.  He made his career as a roofer.  He was active in the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Parrish Council and a Trustee.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks fan.

John leaves to celebrate his memory: his wife, Nancy Matisko, New Auburn, WI; his son, John Matisko, New Auburn, WI; his sister, Ethel Turauski, Rice Lake, WI, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, his son, Gary Matisko and his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jan Matisko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. and continue until the time of Mass.  Father Bala Policetty will officiate the service. Please practice the social distancing guidelines and please wear facial coverings

John will be laid to rest at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Chetek following the Mass with Military Honors.
