Ervin C. Amundson, 75 of Chetek passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Northland in Barron, Wisconsin. He was born in Illinois February 5, 1943, the son of Ernest and Erma (Olson) Amundson.
Ervin graduated from Chetek high school in 1961. He married Sharon Kay Gessert at Chetek Lutheran Church May 1, 1981. Ervin worked for Soo Line Railroad, then later retiring from Johnson Truck body in 2005. He came out of retirement to work for Lone Oaks Senior Living apartments as a maintenance man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing especially ice fishing with his grandchildren. He loved feeding the deer and birds, maintaining a meticulous lawn and garden, splitting wood, complaining about Sharon’s knick-knacks, listening to his Polka music, playing the spoons, harmonica and polka-cello, telling lots of stories and an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Ervin is survived by his wife Sharon, children; Kelly (Todd) Amundson, Robert Amundson, Greg Amundson, Mark (Pam) Amundson, Randy (Penny) Meyer, Wayne (Audrey) Meyer, Kenny (Becky) Meyer, Sarah (Todd) Murray, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his beloved wiener dog Rizzo, sister; Donna Crawford, brother; Ronald (Stevie) Amundson, sister-in-law; Susie Amundson and many other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Lisa Spicer, brother; Gary Amundson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek, with Ed Murray officiating. Family and friends may gather from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Please join the family for continued fellowship at Chetek Lanes following the service.
