Cindy Schaller Obituary

Cynthia (Cindy) Diane Schaller of Chetek passed away at her home on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

She was born on April 28, 1951, to Bill and Neva (Torchy) Schaller at Cumberland, WI. Cindy grew up in Chetek and, after graduating from high school there, attended WSU-Eau Claire. She graduated in 1973 with a degree in Finance and Accounting and went on to get her Masters degree at UW-LaCrosse and Winona State.

After graduation Cindy took a job with the Federal Department of Agriculture and worked on the East coast for the next four years. She did audits for a wide variety of their programs, living primarily in the states of New York and Virginia. At this time Cindy applied for a position as Financial Director for a non-profit agency, Western Dairyland Economic Opportunity Center, in Independence, WI. She worked for them until her retirement in March of 2019 at which time she returned to Chetek.

Once again back in Chetek Cindy quickly became actively involved with her church, Chetek Lutheran, where she happily worked on quilting and service projects. She was also a member of the Church Council.  Cindy served on the board for Lone Oaks Housing in Chetek, was a devoted patron of the library and enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Chetek Community Center.

Cindy loved time spent with family and friends. Surviving her are her sister Susan (Dale) Paulson of Sand Creek, nephew Eric (Heather Miller) Paulson of Chetek and niece Sarah (Ben) Knepper of Chetek along with her beloved great nephews and nieces Eddie, Zoey, Asher and Olivia. She also leaves behind many dear cousins and friends.

Cindy was proceeded in death by her parents William and Torchy (Neva Savage) Schaller.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 28th at Chetek Lutheran Church with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with the service starting at 1 pm. A graveside service will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Chetek.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
