Louis Walter Dorsey III, born on August 25, 1944, in Washington DC, passed away on September 26, 2025, in Chetek, Wisconsin. A dedicated pilot for most of his life, he spent over 20 years with United Airlines, earning recognition as one of the youngest pilots ever accepted into their ranks.

In addition to his career in aviation, Louis served honorably in the Vietnam War, where he flew Caribou aircrafts into the jungle, demonstrating both bravery and commitment to his country. Beyond his professional achievements, Louis was a loving family man whose interests and hobbies painted the portrait of an adventurous spirit. He cherished golfing and embarked on cruises that took him to every continent, including an unforgettable trip to Antarctica. His travels also included memorable train trips across various countries, enriching his appreciation for the world around him.

Louis had a profound love for nature and was often found watching the eagles soar above his home. He was an avid reader and news watcher. Most importantly, Louis deeply valued his family and friends, always making cherished memories with them. He enjoyed the company of his beloved dogs, Snert, Jacques, and Tyke, along with his kitty, Elsa. A lover of the occasional cigar reserved for special occasions, he took delight in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in the serene beauty of Wisconsin.

Louis leaves behind his devoted wife, Kathleen Dorsey, and his children: Mike (Becky) Dorsey, Patrick (Betsy) Dorsey, and Lexie Crosby. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Kirsten (Gabe), Christopher, Matthew (Savanna), Karen (Troy), Joshua (Maddie), Laura, Michelle, and Shannon, as well as his great grandchild, Alexandra. He will also be remembered by his siblings: Earl (Kathryn), Cynthia (Steven), Layne (Kim), Christine (Glen), Annette (Jerry), and Spencer (Sue), as well as many other loving family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Helen and Louis Dorsey II, and his siblings, Clayton and Baggy.
