Obituary

LARRY A OLSON

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Olson of Chetek, who departed this life on October 10, 2026, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Larry was born on September 20, 1952.

Larry was a beloved husband to Kathy Olson, whom he married on October 16, 1971. He was a proud graduate of Chetek High School, Class of 1970. After graduation, he served in the Marine Corps.

Throughout his life, Larry embraced a diverse range of professions and passions. He was an over-the-road truck driver, a motorcycle shop owner, and skilled in masonry. He was a licensed firearm dealer and a concealed carry instructor.

Beyond his professional life, Larry was an avid gun collector and found immense joy in countless Harley motorcycle trips with his wife, Kathy. He served as a motorcycle club president and was a dedicated member of the American Legion. Larry cherished his time deer hunting with his sons and grandsons, and fishing with his grandchildren. You could always find him in attendance at the ball fields or in the gym cheering on his grandchildren in their favorite sports, as they were truly the light of his life. He was their biggest fan and supporter, always making sure to text each of them before and after each of their sporting events.

Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Larson; sister, Marvel Larson; parents Violet and Sigval Olson, and his in-laws, Lucille and Elden Christensen.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Olson of Chetek, Wisconsin; his sisters, Cindy Larson and Karen Olson; his sister-in-law, Laureen Nied; his children, Matthew Olson (Joleen), Jason Olson (Kelly), and Cassidy Olson (Amanda), all of Chetek, Wisconsin. Larry also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jack Olson, Aaron Olson, and Bailey Olson; his nephews, Brandon Cooper (Jenny) of Verona, Wisconsin, Cameron Nied, Reese Anderson; and his great-nephews, Logan and Wyatt Cooper, along with other nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the American Legion in Chetek.
