Charles "Chuckie" Guy Amundson

February 22, 1951 — April 17, 2025

Chetek, Wisconsin

Charles “Chuckie” Amundson, 74 of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed peacefully surrounded by his care team on April 17, 2025.

Chuckie was born to Guy Millard Amundson (Dec. 5, 1908 – Dec. 22, 2008), and Doris Anderson Amundson (Nov. 9, 1921 – Jan. 25, 1981), in Barron County on February 22, 1951.

Chuckie grew up in Barron on the family farm before moving to Chetek in 1979. He graduated from Barron County Schools in 1972. Chuckie worked for Jerome Foods, later Jennie O, and had his own handyman service company. Chuckie also delivered the Chetek Alert for over 40 years. Rain or shine he delivered papers and helped many businesses in Chetek.

Nicknamed the “Do-Gooder” of Chetek, Chuckie helped many daily. He was a daily helper at the VFW Post 10331, Fostbites Spirits, Antczak, and many other businesses. Until the end Chuckie wasn’t ready to leave because he wanted to keep helping people and said he had too much left to do. He loved this town and all of the people in it.

Recently Chuckie was honored with a benefit at the VFW where over 300 people came to say hi and support him. Chuckie was amazed at the turn out, always saying, “I am just an ordinary man that is kind. The mayor even named April 11th in Chetek, “Chuckie Amundson Day”.

Chuckie was preceded in death by his loving parents, as well as many friends and extended family members.

Chuckie is survived by his best friends, caretakers, and jokingly his two wives, Rachel Knasinski (Chris) of New Auburn, and Annie Fritz (Ray Zajic) of Chetek, two additional caretakers, Libby Lehr (Jordan O’Fallon) and Sheila Hidrogo (Tommy), who helped to the end. We want to send a special thanks to Kim Toufar for your love to the end. Chuckie is also survived by hundreds of community members who were his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 18th, at the Chetek VFW from 2:00-5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation the Little Red Barn Dog Rescue in Rice Lake, WI, or the Roselawn Elementary Special Education department at 1201 6th St, Chetek, WI 54728.
