Wilfred Joseph Simon

Wilfred J. Simon, 90 of Chetek passed away Tuesday, January 02, 2018 at Monroe Manor in Barron, Wisconsin.  He was born July 16, 1927 to Katherine (Turany) and Louis Simon in the Township of Tilden, Wisconsin.

Wilfred married Elizabeth Ryan May 10, 1958 at Incarnation Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Together they raised their six children in Brooklyn Center, MN and Osseo, MN before moving to Chetek in 1972.  He worked for Dolly Madison as a Milkman, delivering to many homes in the area.  Wilfred was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, he taught CCD, was a Eucharist Minister and choir member for many years.  He enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, outdoor activities but mostly spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Wilfred is survived by his wife of 59 years Elizabeth, children;  Bruce Simon of Washington, D.C., Michael (Lori) Simon of Appleton, WI, Mary (Scott) McPherson of Annandale, MN, Joseph (Diane) Simon of St. Paul, MN, Richard (Cheryl) Simon of Rhinelander, WI, Annette Simon of Rockford, MN, grandchildren; BrieAnna Simon, Karie (Alec) Miller, Kayla Simon, Samantha Simon, Alyssa Simon, brothers; Tony (Jane) Simon of Bloomer, Allen (Yvonne) Simon of Chippewa Falls, sisters; Dorothy Boos, Ann Marie Schemenauer and Fran (Don) Girard all of Chippewa Falls, Armilla Geist of Chetek, Joan Morain of Brooklyn Park, MN, Rosanna (Larry) Winrich of Eau Claire and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; William, Norbert, Ernest Simon, sisters; Josephine Humbert and Alice McDonald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden, Wisconsin with the Rosary to begin at 10:40 A.M.  Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to Mass at Church on Saturday.  Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in the spring.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Funeral Home in Chetek has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
