Richard Roush Obituary

Richard “Dick” F. Roush, age 78 of Chetek, WI, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, Tuesday, July 3, 2018.  He was at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN due to a tragic burn accident.  Dick was born on November 15, 1939 in Huntley, IL., the son of Chet and Olive (McNickle) Roush. 

He grew up in Union, IL and graduated from Woodstock Community High School.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as part of the Army Security Agency.  He was stationed for 3 years in Japan. After coming home from the Army, he started his own company called A-1 Decorating.  He then moved his family to New Auburn, WI.  This is where Dick became president of the New Auburn Wildlife, Fish and Game, as well as the Owner and Operator of New Auburn Lumber Co., and also joined the Masons.  Dick and his family uprooted again to his final place in Chetek.  He went to work for Automated Building Components in Chetek where he was the General Manager.  Dick retired from ABC in 2003 as Vice President.  It was at ABC where he met his wife, Sharon Hanson.  They were married in 1999 and lived on Prairie Lake.  Soon after, Dick and Sharon bought Roush’s Sports Bar and Grill in Cameron, Wi.  At this time he became a member of the ZOR Shriners and also a member of the American Legion in Cameron.  In his spare time, Dick loved fishing, hunting, morning pontoon cruises and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons Aaron (Julie) Roush of Janesville; Eric (Christy) Roush of Black River Falls; stepdaughter Crystal (Bryce) Stahlke of Delano, Mn., eight grandchildren; Halle, Emily and Matthew Roush; Brenna and Anthony Roush; and Olyvia, Ellie, and Elyn Stahlke; siblings: Marty (Pat) Roush of Marengo, IL,  Dave Roush of Union, IL, Nancy Berg of South Beloit, IL, Gene (Carolyn) Roush of Kasilof, AK along with many nieces and nephews.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12 from 4-7 at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home, 206 Schofield St, in Chetek.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday July 13, at the United Methodist Church, 300 Stout St., Chetek.  A Celebration of Life will be held after the funeral at Roush’s Sports Bar, 109 N. 6th St. in Cameron, WI.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital in memory of Dick.  Donations can be made at www.stjude.org.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Regions Hospital for their extraordinary care of Dick and his family during that difficult time.
