Lois Petersen Obituary

Lois Jean Petersen, 94, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with her loving family at her side.   Lois Otterholt was born on June 1, 1925 in Chetek, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ben and Olga (Peterson) Otterholt.

In her career Lois worked at several different Lutheran church congregations including Mount  Olivet and Central Lutheran in Minneapolis.  She served as secretary and research assistant to the Senior Pastors.  In her retirement years she continued to work at part-time jobs in the Young-Quinlan building in downtown Minneapolis as an elevator operator, and at Sonnie’s Women’s Fashion Boutique in Edina, MN.  At a point in her life Lois fell in love with dogs.  She got hooked on dog shows and won numerous awards with her beloved Schipperkes.  She developed many dear friendships during these years that lasted her lifetime.  During her later years in Chetek, she owned Chihuahuas.  They became her devoted companions until her passing.  Lois enjoyed gardening, hardanger embroidery, and puzzles, but most near and dear to her heart was her family, friends and her church.

Lois leaves to celebrate her memory:  The Wiebe family step children and their families.  The Petersen family step children and their families, niece, Susan (Barry) Boyer, nephew, Mark (Rhonda) Diers, nephew, Michael (Vicki) Diers, great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Olga Otterholt, first husband, James Wiebe, second husband, Mathias Petersen, her sister Gail Diers and her husband Bernard.

The funeral service for Lois was held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Christ Lutheran Church in Chetek.  Pastor Tylan Dalrymple officiated.  Lois was laid to rest at the Otterholt Cemetery in Chetek.  Pallbearers were her family, Susan and Barry Boyer, Mark and Rhonda Diers, and Michael and Vicki Diers.

Memorials to Chetek Christ Lutheran Church are preferred.
