Delores Muermann Obituary

Delores Nona Muermann, 90 of Chetek passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care Center.  She was born July 2, 1928 in Chetek, the daughter of Aagoth (Nelson) and Emil Peterson. Delores was preceded in death by Fred Muermann, her husband of 66 years, her son-in-law, Gordon Casebolt, her parents and four brothers and one sister.

Delores is survived by four children, eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren:  her son Frederick (Freddy) and his wife Sarah, and their children Carolyn Tobin, husband John, and daughter Isabelle, Frederick (Rick) Muermann, wife Cheyne and his daughter Ella, Elizabeth (Beth) Girga, husband Kevin and three children Nicholas, William, and Andrew; and three daughters Ann Casebolt; Sue Mallow, her husband Randy and their children Joshua and Brittany; and Mary Jo Schindelholz, her husband Mark, and their three children Eric, wife Mara and son Alex; Kelli English, her husband Brian, sons Jackson and Eli, and daughter Kinley; and Michael, his wife Anna and their children Max and Stella.

Delores was born, raised and lived her entire life in Chetek.  She married shortly after graduating from high school, and spent the following years raising her family.   She was truly a partner with her beloved husband Fred.   Whether it was cooking the wild game he hunted and fish he caught, bottling honey from the bee hives he tended, or canning and freezing the vegetables and berries they grew in their garden, she was by his side.   Her children remember the delicious meals she made, with favorites being her blueberry dumplings and homemade egg noodles with chicken.

You always knew if you stopped at the house, Delores would be happy to put on the coffee pot and set out a plate of some of her home baked cookies or cake.  She loved visiting with people and making them feel welcome.  She was also active in the Ladies Aid at church.  Over the years, she made many pans of bars for church events, and contributed many jars of home canned dill pickles.  The monthly calendar hanging on the wall by the telephone was filled with notations about the various events and activities that filled her days.  All the birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and weddings were there, as well as the quarts of berries picked and beans canned on a particular day!

Delores was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. The refrigerator door was always covered with drawings from grandchildren, newspaper articles on children and grandchildren accomplishments, and the latest family pictures.  She took great joy in talking about her family.

We will remember Delores as a sweet woman with a positive outlook on life.  Although her memory failed her in the last few years, she always knew her children and had a smile when they came to visit.  We will miss you mom.

Funeral Services for Delores will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Chetek United Methodist Church with Pastor Changki Kim officiating.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service for a visitation.  Delores will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Fred, at Lake View Cemetery.  The pallbearers will be her grandchildren; Carrie Tobin, Rick Muermann, Beth Girga, Josh Mallow, Eric Schindelholz, Kelli English,  Michael Schindelholz and Brittany Mallow. Please join the family for continued fellowship and a luncheon at the church hall following the interment.
