Darlene Frances Pfaff, 82 of Chetek passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Lake View Medical Center with her loving family by her side.  She was born July 17, 1935 in Bayfield, Wisconsin the daughter of Robert and Elna (Engblom) Feldmeier.

Darlene graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1953.  She married James Louis Pfaff in Rice Lake July 23, 1955. Darlene found joy in working with kids.  She was a member of Shirley Morley’s Daycare staff for many years.  Darlene and Jim also took in foster children.   In 1983, Jim and Darlene started The Chetek River Campground.  She made sure the campground was always decorated with fountains and colorful flowers.  Darlene loved working in the office and meeting all the campers.  They ran the campground for fifteen years. Bowling, card playing, shopping, pontoon rides, camping, and attending grandchildren’s sporting events were just a few of the many things that she enjoyed doing.   Each winter, Darlene and Jim hooked onto their fifth wheel and headed for warmer weather.  One of their favorite places to stay was Tropic Star in Pharr, Texas.  She loved being a Snowbird.

Darlene’s pride and joy were her pet Shih-Tzu’s named Heidi and Tasha.  She enjoyed spoiling her dogs! Holidays were something that Darlene always looked forward to.  Her house was a treat to visit because she had a special touch for decorating and entertaining family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Pfaff, children; Rick (Johanne) Pfaff of Lexington, MN, Debbie (Dick) Schmidt of Rice Lake, Kathy (Rick) Bowers of Chetek, Jeff (Lori) Pfaff of Luck, grandchildren; Jamie Pfaff, Brad, Bryan and Blake Bowers, Katie and Morgan Pfaff, brother; Robert Feldmeier of Ashland and many other friends and relatives.  She is preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren; Travis and Michael Pfaff, one brother Lester Feldmeier.
