Welcome to the memorial page for

Paul Richard Rederer

April 30, 1991 ~ August 30, 2016 (age 25) 25 Years Old

On Tuesday, Aug 30, 2016, the light of our lives was accidentally and tragically lost to us. Born to Paula Rederer and Richard Kisting on Tuesday, April 30, 1991and in a hurry to begin life, Paul Richard Rederer came into this world 2 months early at the Marshfield Children’s hospital, weighing just slightly over 3 pounds.   His arrival brought more joy than could be imagined and he immediately became “our boy”, especially to his deaf grandparents LuWana and Paul Rederer and to his adoring and devoted second mom, Brenda Rederer (Aunt Bun).

When Paul was about one year old and wanting to be closer to family, Paula and Paul, along with cat Pumpkin, moved back to Chetek where ‘baby Paul’ was cared for by nanny and papa Rederer as Paula attended school and worked.  He was later enrolled at Shirley Morley’s day care and eventually started school at Roselawn.  Paul was confirmed at the Chetek Lutheran church.

Becoming involved in cub scouts he would make many lifetime friends there, and there was never a shortage of caring adults that would help to guide and encourage him; a blessing of living in our small and compassionate community. Progressing through the ranks, Paul became a “life” scout.  As a special scouting project Paul created an outstanding native wildflower rain garden at the Chippewa Moraine State Park where thousands of people annually stop to admire its beauty, its tranquility, and its butterflies.

Paul trained hard to play football in high school and many a cold night was had by us as we traveled and huddled together on some schools bench waiting to catch his eye so we could give him the thumbs up.  That early desire for being strong and healthy would start his lifetime of working out and staying physically fit.

Graduating high school in 2009 Paul went on and acquired a degree in electrical power distribution from Moraine Technical College in Beaver Dam.  With girlfriend Chloe, and rescue cats Jinx, and beloved cat Mobile (found in Paul’s car as a tiny kitten) Paul headed out west to work building power lines.

Homebodies eventually return home and with a fierce commitment to watch over his ‘nana’ LuWana, Paul started work for Badger State Industries in New Auburn, working as a day truck driver.  That flexibility also afforded him the time to become involved in Mixed Martial Arts training which taught him physical and mental restraint and discipline. Passionate about fitness, Paul was an inspiration to so many; helping and encouraging them to become physical fit, being a protector to some less fortunate , and as a caring friend to many, which is evidenced by the hundreds of loving comments and tributes left by his friends.

Although far too short, Paul’s life will continue to go enriching and helping others because of his choice to be an organ donor. His gifts will help from 50 to 75 thankful recipients and his beautiful eyes have already helped others to see.

Paul was a kind, happy, and polite young man and he ended every conversation to his mom and Aunt Bun with an “I love you”. He deeply loved his family, his cats, and his friends and it was returned by so many of you.  Although we are broken hearted please know that your outpouring of love and support is the only thing that has carried us through this very difficult time.

There are too many to mention but Paul is survived by his parents Paula Rederer and Richard Kisting, Aunt Brenda, Grandmother Luwana, step family Ruth, Jason and Stacey and special friend and mentor Michael. Uncle Jeff, Scott, and Paul’s best friend Luke. Special friends Trevor, Jordan, Dave, Randy and Chloe.  Beloved and furry pets Mobile, Jinx, and nana’s cat Rascal– who if not loved, was at least tolerated. There are countless others and although you are not named, you are remembered.  Proceeded in death by many others, especially grandpa Paul Rederer.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, September 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chetek Beach Park pavilion where your stories and memories of Paul would be greatly and forever appreciated.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
