Maxine V (Nelson) Borkowski

Maxine V. Borkowski, 95, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Dallas Care and Rehab Center.  Maxine was born on April 12, 1922 in Big Bend, Rusk County, Wisconsin the daughter of Perry and Minnie Nelson.

Maxine attended grade school at North Lima in the town of Big Bend and graduated from the Weyerhaeuser High School.  After her education she moved to Milwaukee and worked for the Allen-Bradley Company for 38 years and retiring in the early 1980’s.  She met and married John Burkowski while living in Milwaukee.  After retiring they moved to Crivitz, Wisconsin and after John passed away Maxine moved to Chetek.  She enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting, cooking and playing card games.

Maxine leaves to celebrate her memory: brother, Nick (Linda) Nelson, Weyerhaeuser, WI, many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Minnie Nelson, husband, John Borkowski, brothers, Ray, Austin, Irdale “Nub” and Argle Nelson and her sisters, Daisy Wonn, Eutha “Babe” Kern and Eula Tubbs.

Funeral services will be held at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.  Pastor David Willingham will officiate the service.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Please join the family afterwards for lunch and continued fellowship at Gilligan’s.

Maxine will be laid to rest alongside her husband John at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
